Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the virtues of family football scholarships and community service. His family's first name is Selmon is the eldest of nine kids raised by Eufala through Lucious Selmon. Also, he was one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the United States by Outland and Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received a scholarship for the third season in the year 1975. Selmon received a diploma in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work throughout his time at college. After college, he moved into Tampa and played for nine years with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. After that, he began his career. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that the year 1982 was when The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at 256 pounds in college as player, commanded his team for the year 1975. In 1993, he was named as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
